Our Spotlight winner this month has been part of the Accurate team for two years. A creative, driven leader who balances focus with fun, she inspires excellence while staying true to herself—an artist at heart whose determination shows in everything she does. “Shoot for the stars—work hard, show pride in your work, and you’ll get recognized for it.”

Any custodial worker knows they are more than "just" a janitor— and we agree!
At Accurate Building Maintenance, our team members are the backbone of our team and the heartbeat of our purpose: inspiring personal and professional growth while creating clean, healthy, safe communities. They take care of our customers, so we take care of them like family—the best kind! We are so grateful for all they do each day and love to see them grow and succeed.
Our monthly Janitorial Employee Spotlight series features one of our amazing team members, showcasing what it’s like to work in the cleaning industry at Accurate, where we #KeepItFun.
This month, we shine the spotlight on Andrea Lopez, who joined Accurate two years ago as a part-time standby before quickly working her way up to lead and then supervisor. Her journey is one of steady growth and well-earned success. Today, she oversees a complex educational site where her consistency, communication, and professionalism continue to stand out.
A creative person and natural leader, Andrea brings precision, purpose, and a drive for excellence that energizes her team. She’s admired for her attention to detail, her willingness to jump in wherever needed, and the pride she takes in her team’s success. She intentionally develops others to lead, setting high standards while keeping the work enjoyable and collaborative.
In our Q&A, it was clear that Andrea keeps learning and growing both as a professional and as a person. Happily married to her high school sweetheart, she spends her free time drawing, painting, doting on her dog, and occasionally gaming. She collects Powerpuff Girls plushies, not as toys but as reminders of strength, individuality, and teamwork: values she lives by. Through every experience, even the tough ones, Andrea has found purpose and perspective, proving that confidence and humility can coexist when you know exactly who you are. Read on to get to know Andrea and why she's one of Accurate's most inspiring team members.
Special thanks and kudos from creator/author Erin Williams (Marketing) to our dedicated Customer Service Manager Dee Perez for her assistance in carrying out this month's article!

She was always eager to learn, whether it was mastering floor work or tackling new responsibilities. Her willingness to grow and her positive spirit helped her move into a lead role, and eventually she became the supervisor. Even with a tough client, she handled every challenge head-on and did an amazing job. When we moved Andrea to another challenging site, she built a strong team, improved morale, and earned the clients' trust. She’s known for her top-notch reporting and her dedication to continuous improvement. WHAT ANDREA HAD TO SAY ABOUT THE JANITORIAL INDUSTRY AND WORKING AT ACCURATE
What's your favorite thing about working at Accurate? Everyone gets a chance to learn how to do anything that they’re willing or want to try. I get to learn how to do pretty much anything, even how to use a lot of the machines for floor work. That's pretty awesome for a company to do that. When I first started, I was just a standby (part-time on-call employee who covers last-minute vacancies across the company's worksites). I covered an event at one of our school sites and ended up joining the crew there. I was trained pretty quickly to become a shift lead and then a supervisor. In other cleaning companies, it would take years just to move up to become a shift lead, and another year from that to a supervisor.
What's your WHY for being a cleaning industry professional? In other words, what brings you to work each day at this job, besides needing to earn a paycheck? It’s definitely seeing the difference between it being dirty and then freshly clean. It's satisfying to me. I love it, and it’s really important—especially during the pandemic. It was pretty difficult.
What advice would you give to a recent new hire? I would say, shoot for the stars. I know a lot of the new hires that we get are disappointed by the pay rate that they start at. But I'm just like, “Keep doing you. Work hard, show pride in your work, and you'll get recognized for it.”
How did you get started working in this industry? My mom. She's been cleaning ever since I was a child. And then it would be like a ritual at home. On weekends, she would wake us up to clean every Saturday morning and start the day with loud music. “If you're up, you're cleaning,” was how she said it. That's why I'm in the industry.

What do you think makes our team culture at Accurate unique (compared to other cleaning companies)? When they ask for our feedback as employees, they actually take what we say seriously. They listen to what we say and make changes that are needed. A lot of companies don't do that. They may ask for feedback, but it’s usually dismissed.
What is one thing you wish people knew about your work? That I do actually have to clean up after bio hazards—bodily waste, like when someone makes a mess in a bathroom. For some reason, a lot of people seem to think that the person who made the mess just takes care of cleaning it up themselves. Nope, that would be me.
Accurate says, “You want to learn? Sure, let’s learn. We’ll teach you.”
What is your proudest moment working at Accurate? When David F. [the school's Facilities Director] called Alex to say, “She’s doing a good job.”
What is the toughest challenge you've had at work? It was during the pandemic. I was working in sales at the time at a cell phone store, and I also worked part-time with another janitorial company cleaning buildings like banks. I'm not gonna lie, that was pretty challenging. It was extremely scary at times. I think I became kind of a germaphobe after that, because even when I get sick now, I have to sanitize everything that I touch just to make sure that everything is clean.

I always tell my staff, “I’m basically training you guys to be me—to be leads or supervisors so you can take over other contracts. Don't expect to be with me for too long.”
Which work benefit or perk is your favorite, and why? Bonusly (our employee recognition app). I didn't use it as often early on, but I'm starting to use it more now that I'm an actual supervisor and we’re expected to post for our team members. I think it's really cool. It gives the staff encouragement from each other, not just customers and leadership. It’s kind of like going back to elementary school and the teachers would put little star stickers on your papers. And the points can be reused as actual money (on gift cards).
Is there someone at our company who inspires you? I would definitely say Bonnie Miller. She's taught me so much, not only about our work but as a person, life outside of work. She's a very smart individual.
What makes you feel proud and satisfied about your work? To actually make a difference, where the customer can see it. I’m not motivated to do my work well as much for praise or the shout-outs we’re given, like, “Oh, she did a good job.” I do it so we can stick to our core values and go above and beyond to make our customer satisfied. Also, coming from a background of customer service for 11 years, that speaks to me—pleasing the customer—and I enjoy that.

Which of Accurate's core values is most important to you, and why? (We Keep Our Word, Opportunity, Respect, Keep it Fun, and Solutions) We Keep Our Word, and We Keep It Fun. Because I like a company that really does try to keep it fun. I like adding my own little twist and just enjoying work. Each individual person just sprinkles their own enjoyment over what they do, just to make it their own.
What would you do for a career if you weren't doing this job? Health information management, coding for medical records and health insurance billing. I would like to learn all the medical terms and explain them to the individual, either to the actual patient or someone else who is calling for that information. I like helping people, especially with something most people don’t understand. I am a very patient person, so I feel like I would be good at taking the time needed to answer their questions.
What skill do you think everyone should learn? The basics of cleaning, like learning the right way to put a trash bag in a trash can and how to disinfect. Those are two basic skills I think everyone should know how to do.
WHAT ANDREA SHARED ABOUT HERSELF

What does success look like to you? Making progress, growing. I always struggled with that question, even when I was a kid and someone asked me this. Seeing progress in whatever you're doing in work and for your personal life.
What do you like to do in your free time? I like going out on the weekends and antique shopping, spending time with my husband or with my dog, Blue. He’s a 14-year-old Pitbull. Sometimes my husband and I play video games together. Right now we're playing a video game called Alien, which is from the movie Alien vs. Predator. Super scary. It does not make me want to go to space!
Tell us about your family. I’ve lived in Las Vegas all my life, born and raised. I'm married to my high school sweetheart. We've been together since we were in ninth grade. We broke up for awhile after we graduated, but then we got back together—couldn’t stay away from each other, I guess! And I have my mom and two brothers.

What is your favorite family tradition? One of our family traditions is that we don’t do Thanksgiving. We don't celebrate it. I’m not going to get into the reasons behind it. But instead, we all go to a paintball park and play against each other with teams.
If you could go back and give your 13-year-old self some advice, what would it be? I would say to her, “Use all of that anger as fuel, but for something positive. Keep pushing. Channel your rage, or whatever you want to call it. Fight back.”
What is something unique about you? I can draw what’s in a photo it as I’m looking at it, by hand. I like drawing on an empty canvas, or on my iPad. I also like painting. Recently, I've been drawing on windows with paint, decorating for the holidays. I did that for Halloween at the Accurate office and on the windows at my house.

If you could rename yourself, what name would you pick? Elvira. It’s unique. I like it. I don't know if you ever saw that show The Addams Family back in the day? She was an interesting character.
What's one thing on your bucket list? One of the main things would probably be to visit Japan. I could eat authentic ramen. I love Asian food.
What job did you want to have when you were a kid? I wanted to become a detective. I grew up watching Law and Order.
If you had to delete all the three apps from your smartphone, what would they be? Tiktok, Instagram, and my music player.
If you were a pro wrestler, what would be your entrance theme song? The Power Puff Girls theme song. Follow-Up Question... Which Power Puff Girl is your favorite? Blossom. She’s amazing.
Author's Note: I've been waiting over 2 years for someone to pick this question! Yessss. Finally!

Do you collect anything? I collect little plushie dolls—especially Powerpuff Girls. Right now, I only have three of those, just because they’ve been sold out, and I'm waiting for a new series to come out. I get some of them online, but mostly, I go to Chinatown here in Las Vegas. There’s a little store where they sell plushies.
If you were an animal, what would you be, and why? I would be a bird. When I was a little kid, I imagined I had conversations with a bird. The bird would tell me about all the places it could go, where it would fly around the world. And I told the bird, “I want to do that.”
What is one food you wish had zero calories? Chocolate cake with fudge frosting.
What was the first thing you bought with your own money? When I was 22, I bought my first nice car—a Jeep.
If you had to eat one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be? Mexican Enchiladas. Just a soft tortilla rolled with some chicken, covered in cheese and topped with salsa, lettuce, and onions.

What's your number one pet peeve? Loud chewing, when people are eating. I don't like going to restaurants, and if I do, I have to focus really hard to not pay attention to the chomping.
What's something you can't live without? I love lotion!
Thank you, Andrea, for being a highly valued team member and an inspiration! We are so glad you’re part of The Accurate Family.
