Our Spotlight winner this month joined Accurate 18 months ago and quickly earned two promotions. A devoted husband of 39 years, proud grandpa, and lifelong soccer player, Efren leads with discipline, respect, and heart. “Be yourself, trust yourself, and always find the positive in everything you do. That's success.”

Any custodial worker knows they are more than "just" a janitor— and we agree!

At Accurate Building Maintenance, our team members are the backbone of our team and the heartbeat of our purpose: inspiring personal and professional growth while creating clean, healthy, safe communities. They take care of our customers, so we take care of them like family—the best kind! We are so grateful for all they do each day and love to see them grow and succeed.

Our monthly Janitorial Employee Spotlight series features one of our amazing team members, showcasing what it’s like to work in the cleaning industry at Accurate, where we #KeepItFun.

This month, we're proud to spotlight Efren Funes, who joined Accurate 18 months ago and quickly rose from crew member to Morning Shift Supervisor on one of our largest exterior accounts. Promoted to Lead within four months, he’s known for staying organized, protecting the client relationship, and making sure his team has what they need to succeed. Hearing “good job” from a customer isn’t small—it’s fuel to keep improving.

At home, that same standard carries through. Efren has been married to his wife, Veronica, for 39 years and says his happiest moment was marrying her. 💖😭He’s a proud grandfather who lights up when talking about his grandkids, and he still plays competitive soccer—once a childhood dream. He believes growth comes from strong character and choosing to see the good in every situation.

Leadership and excellence aren’t complicated for Efren: treat people well, do the work right, and the results take care of themselves. Read on to see why his example continues to strengthen both his team and the results they deliver.

Special thanks and kudos from creator/author Erin Williams (Marketing) to our dedicated Customer Service Manager Dee Perez for her leadership and assistance in carrying out this month's article!

WHAT OTHERS HAD TO SAY ABOUT EFREN

Bonnie Miller, Accurate's Director of Workplace and Employee Experience, first identified Efren as a rising star a year ago, when he was promoted to shift Lead at our largest exterior property contract four months after he was hired.

"He does an amazing job with a smile no matter the task. Efren has made his team a family since being promoted to Lead. He's exceeded our expectations and is definitely the Most Improved Employee of 2024," Bonnie raved. "I'm voting Efren 'most likely to succeed in our class!'"

Her prediction proved accurate. As Efren approached his 1.5 year work anniversary, she was proud to nominate him for the Spotlight.

“Efren’s growth within our company reflects both his work ethic and his heart for leadership. He began as an exterior porter and steadily earned his way into a supervisory role by consistently demonstrating initiative, reliability, and a commitment to excellence. He's a true 'people person.' Friendly, outgoing, and approachable, Efren has a natural ability to connect with others and build strong, unified teams. He creates an environment where employees feel supported and motivated, while still holding clear expectations and ensuring the job is completed thoroughly and correctly. His energy makes people want to come to work, and he balances that positivity with accountability and results. Our client holds him in high regard because he doesn’t just meet expectations, he exceeds them. He is proactive, responsive, and always willing to go above and beyond to ensure requests are handled quickly and professionally." -Bonnie Miller, Accurate Director of Workplace and Employee Experience, Las Vegas

Exterior Services Manager Brandon Alvarez saw that same potential early, and continues to see it grow.

"When I moved into the Exterior Services Manager role, Efren moved up from Lead to take over as Morning Supervisor. He took on the responsibility right away, and has shown strong accountability, maturity, and consistency with his team and daily operations. The transition has been smooth, and he continues to show strong potential for growth. Efren is a strong asset to Accurate, and I appreciate the way he’s stepped up!" -Brandon Alvarez, Accurate Exterior Services Manager, Las Vegas

At Efren’s worksite, Omar E., Senior EVS Manager for our customer, sees that leadership firsthand, and so does the broader organization.
