This month’s Spotlight honors a team member who has been a key part of the Accurate family for nearly four years. Trusted for her reliability and attention to detail, Annie is just as loved for her warmth, humor, and determination. A devoted mom, fiancée, and classically trained opera singer with a powerful voice, she brings authenticity and self-awareness to everything she does. "I try to look for the silver lining and be the light at the end of someone's tunnel. That's who I want to be."

Any custodial worker knows they are more than "just" a janitor— and we agree!
At Accurate Building Maintenance, our team members are the backbone of our team and the heartbeat of our purpose: inspiring personal and professional growth while creating clean, healthy, safe communities. They take care of our customers, so we take care of them like family—the best kind! We are so grateful for all they do each day and love to see them grow and succeed.
Our monthly Janitorial Employee Spotlight series features one of our amazing team members, showcasing what it’s like to work in the cleaning industry at Accurate, where we #KeepItFun.
This month, we’re proud to shine the spotlight on Annie Day, whose nearly four years with Accurate have helped shape the level of care, precision, and pride our teams strive for every day. As Annie prepares to relocate to Texas at the end of December, this feature serves not only as recognition, but as a heartfelt thank-you and sendoff for a respected and beloved teammate who has deeply mattered to the people she worked alongside.
Annie is known throughout Accurate for her unwavering attention to detail, deep sense of responsibility, and pride in doing things right. Whether stepping in as a standby, supervising demanding accounts, or taking on complex detail work, she consistently elevated every site she touched. Coworkers, supervisors, and customers alike describe her as reliable, thoughtful, and exacting—in the best possible way. Annie may move carefully, but she works with intention and precision, setting a standard that leaves no detail overlooked and no question about the quality of her work.
Annie’s story is one of resilience and growth, shaped by self-awareness, determination, and a genuine effort to show up fully as herself while remaining open to others and each situation she encounters. Keep reading to learn more about Annie, her journey, and the perspective she brings to her work and life.

What Others Had to Say About Annie
Annie was nominated for this month's spotlight by two teammates who felt strongly about the impact she's made, a true testament to the respect and appreciation she has earned. Janitorial crew member Colton Augustine noted she is a good employee and thanked Annie for always showing up and helping with vacuuming at his site when needed. Previous Spotlight winner Andrea Lopez is the evening supervisor for one of our educational sites and said, "Annie is an excellent employee, amazing at detail work, and has a positive attitude wherever she goes."
More than a dozen Accurate employees reached out to share their praise and recognition for Annie, the highest number by far in the nearly three years of this monthly feature. Bonnie Miller is Accurate's Director of Workplace and Employee Experience, and her working relationship with Annie pre-dates their time at Accurate and spans several years and roles for them both.
“From the moment she began working with our team, it was clear there was something special about her. Annie puts heart into everything she does. She is emotional in a way that fuels her compassion, her pride in her work, and her dedication to doing things the right way. What she may not deliver in speed, she more than makes up for in precision. The tiny details most people overlook are the ones she refuses to ignore. Her standard of clean sets the bar.

"Over the years, Annie has stepped into many roles and many challenges and embraced them all with courage and care. She has supervised demanding accounts and navigated tough environments with grace. She is reliable, steady, and always excited to learn—traits that helped her thrive no matter where she was placed. When a struggling account needed a supervisor, Annie stepped in to help. When she later asked to broaden her experience, she willingly reentered standby work so she could master every account across Accurate. Her adaptability quickly became one of her strongest assets. Annie is the kind of person who can walk into any site, any shift, any situation, and elevate it. Supervisors request her; clients trust her; employees welcome her.
"Even at locations where only one very specific porter is ever 'acceptable,' Annie became the only approved replacement, because of the quality of her work and the care she brings. That speaks volumes." -Bonnie Miller, Accurate Director of Workplace and Employee Experience, Las Vegas
"It is truly an honor to recognize Annie and the incredible dedication she brings to her work each and every day. I've had the privilege of knowing her for many years, and throughout that time, she has taken on multiple roles and responsibilities, always giving her best in everything she does. There isn’t a property that Annie hasn’t stepped in to help cover or detail when needed. She is frequently requested on accounts because of the pride she takes in her work and the consistently high standards she delivers. Annie embraces challenges, is always eager to learn, and approaches every task with care, commitment, and professionalism." -Lily Guardado, Accurate PM Area Supervisor, Las Vegas
"Six years ago, I worked with Annie at a previous janitorial company, and she had gone above and beyond with any request at the time. Since I’ve started here at Accurate, I’ve heard and witnessed only good things when it comes to her work ethic and willingness to be a team player." -Al Tyler, Accurate Special Services Manager, Las Vegas
"Annie is wonderfully complicated and always eager to learn! She consistently shows up as a helpful, transparent team player with a keen eye for detail in everything she does. Quirky yet grounded, simple yet complex, she’s a contradiction in the very best way—and that unique balance is what makes her such a valuable and appreciated part of our team. My sincerest and heartful kudos to Annie!" -Dee Perez, Accurate Customer Service Manager, Las Vegas
"Annie is one of the best workers I've encountered. She always took care of my accounts as if they were hers when covering as a standby. The Difference is in the Details
Bonnie continued, "Annie transitioned from security work into janitorial services before she joined Accurate, discovering a remarkable gift: an eye for detail that is rare, meticulous, and deeply appreciated by both clients and coworkers. In recognition of her exceptional skills, Annie earned the title of Detail Specialist, a role she has embraced wholeheartedly. Special requests, detail jobs, tough-to-staff sites — Annie takes them on without hesitation and delivers results that leave a lasting impression. She has become a dependable anchor for our team, a quiet force of excellence, and someone who brings value wherever she goes."
"In true Annie fashion, you can count on Annie Day — any day — of the week to get the job done." -Bonnie Miller, Accurate Director of Workplace and Employee Experience, Las Vegas
"Annie is known for her bubbly personality and her ability to speak her mind, which usually means she’s already noticed something that needs attention before anyone else has. One of her most outstanding qualities is her attention to detail. She is meticulous in her work and consistently goes above and beyond, ensuring that every nook, cranny, and often-overlooked spot is thoroughly addressed. If there’s a spot you didn’t even know existed, chances are Annie has already cleaned it." -Lily Guardado, Accurate PM Area Supervisor, Las Vegas

"It’s always been an honor working with Annie and being able to depend on her. She consistently goes above and beyond, with strong attention to detail and a true sense of ownership in her work. Annie has truly earned her title as “The Detailer,” and we are lucky to have her on our team.” -Lily Guardado, Accurate PM Area Supervisor, Las Vegas
Francisco S. is the Facilities Manager for one of our longtime educational contract sites where Annie first worked as a standby and then supervisor. Prior to accepting that role, he was an Area Manager for Accurate.
"Annie is the definition of a professional. Her meticulous attention to detail and the pride she takes in her work—especially when it comes to professional detail cleaning projects—sets a standard. During her time here on campus, she excelled as a supervisor and played a vital role in building, understanding, and growing our janitorial processes. She hasn't just helped improve our systems; she has been a crucial part of the professional growth of those around her. Annie, thank you for everything you do. Your hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed. We appreciate you!" –Francisco S., Facilities Manager for Accurate Customer, Las Vegas
Francisco went on to say, "Annie brings a unique, funny, and enthusiastic personality to the buildings she cleans. My favorite memories of training and working alongside her are definitely the words of encouragement and the funny jokes we shared over the radio to keep the crew pushing through the shift. I want to congratulate her and share some words as if we were communicating over the radio like old times.
"Frannie to Annie—DO YOU COPY? I would like to congratulate you on your hard work and dedication over the years. Your work ethic and attention to detail are amazing. You truly left your mark here on campus and did an excellent job. You are a significant part of my own journey and professional growth. I'm proud of you, and I appreciate you. Thank you!" [And Annie would respond]: 'Cool beans.' OVER..." –Francisco S., Facilities Manager for Accurate Customer, Las Vegas
What Annie Had to Say About the Janitorial Industry and Working at Accurate

What's your WHY for being a cleaning industry professional? In other words, what brings you to work each day at this job, besides needing to earn a paycheck? Loyalty to the company, especially to Bonnie. She gets me—sees through my “stuff”—and values the core of me and works with what I have available. As for the work of cleaning itself, it gives me a feeling of satisfaction when I do a good job that makes clients and bosses happy. I like to do a good job, and I'm good at cleaning.
What keeps you motivated at work? A drive for excellence and attention to detail. I always put 110% of effort into my work. I’ve just always been this way. I put my best foot forward no matter what. I always make sure I get the job done and done right, and even better than last time if I can.
How did you get started working in this industry? My first official job as an adult was as an usher and concessionaire at Boulder Station Theatre, and I also worked in housekeeping at the Stardust. Both involved cleaning. I worked in security for [a large casino] for over 10 years. I'm good at connecting with people and helping them calm down if they are upset. After I was injured on the job by a property guest during a security crisis situation and my ACL snapped, I had to have ligament reconstruction surgery, but unfortunately, despite physical therapy and rehabilitation, it never healed properly. I have weakness in my knee and leg as a result, and I lose my balance and fall sometimes. For the next three years, I worked as an office assistant in the catering and wedding coordinator departments [at the same employer]. After that, I started working at a different cleaning company. I came to work for Accurate 4 years ago.
Dealing with people when I worked in security actually gave me a backbone. I can be a very timid person, but at the same time, I have a fire in me. I try to find balance.

What is your proudest moment working at Accurate? I have two, actually. First, receiving this Employee Spotlight award. The second is that I covered an account as a standby and then trained someone we hired specifically for the site, but it didn't work out, and the customer requested me back because of my attention to detail and excellence. There have been zero complaints there since.
What makes you proud of being an Accurate team member? The fact that I feel like we’re one of the best out there in Las Vegas as far as cleaning companies go. I’ve worked for others, and there's no comparison. And our floor guys are the best, absolutely top notch.
What's your favorite thing about working at Accurate? The flexibility. I’ve never worked for a company that is so accommodating.
What’s the most embarrassing, funniest, or weirdest thing that’s happened to you at work? One night when I started my shift at the school, my pants split in half down the back. You could see everything because of my hot pink underwear! 🤣 I had to run to a nearby store quickly to find another pair and finish my shift. Lesson learned: Don't wait till your work uniform almost disintegrates because you've washed it so often.
What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far? We can learn new things every day. It doesn't matter how old you get, you're always learning. I like to learn new things.
Which of Accurate's core values is most important to you, and why? (We Keep Our Word, Opportunity, Respect, Keep it Fun, and Solutions) We Keep Our Word. That’s very important to me. If I say I’m going to do something, I’m going to do it.
What would you do for a career if you weren't doing this job? Sing! I’ve sung since I was a child. It's the only thing I feel I’m good at. Author's Note: She is REALLY GOOD! Keep reading for more on this.
What Annie Shared About Herself

What is something unique about you? I sing and was classically trained to do so. I'm told I have a powerful voice. Even though we were poor when I was growing up, my dad got me some singing lessons for opera and jazz with David London—he's really well known; he trained Marilyn Monroe. I love to perform.
Where can we see or hear you sing, Annie? (CLICK THE LINKS TO ENJOY!) Half Deaf Records on YouTube has a couple of videos of me singing. That's my friend Ray’s channel. The songs “Whatever Lola Wants" by Sarah Vaughan, “One and Only” by Adele, Ed Sheeran's "I See Fire" from The Hobbit, and a few others. When it comes to music taste, I'm an eclectic nerd.
What was the first thing you bought with your own money? A black velvet Celtic dress that I fell in love with at Hot Topic. As a teenager, I got a job to help with the bills. But my dad told me, "Your first paycheck goes to you. Get something you've always wanted." So that's what I did. I felt like a Celtic princess.

If Hollywood made a movie about your life, who would you like to see cast as you? Kristen Bell. I like her in the TV show The Good Place and the movie Frozen.
Tell us about your family now. My fiancé, Jake Miller, and I have been together for 13 years this February. My daughter Alice is 15 years old, and my son Aiden will turn 22 in January. We have three dogs and three cats. At the end of this month, we're moving to Mico, Texas (near San Antonio). We have a couple of acres of land with a house. Jake has plans to find work there. I want to grow a garden, bake, and go to the farmer's markets in the area. It's a good thing. I'm excited but also nervous.
What do you like to do in your free time? I love being outdoors and to read, bake, sing, and play Xbox. Watch videos on my phone—funny ones, but also videos of people playing the game Subsistence and learning tips from it. I find that relaxing for some reason.
You have to sing at karaoke. What song do you pick? The Greatest Love of All by Whitney Houston. I feel that song deep down. It took a lot of time for me to learn to love myself.

If given a chance, who would you like to be for a day? I’m a Star Trek and Stargate fan, so I would probably be one of the characters on those shows. Like Corporal Samantha Carter. She’s extremely smart and strong, someone who I would have liked to be. Or Admiral Kathryn Janeway from Star Trek: Voyager—a strong, independent, smart woman who can figure things out and take the lead without losing her ****.
What is your #1 pet peeve? Lack of communication, both in personal life and at work.
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be? I would like to learn to fly (to be a pilot). I almost went to school to become a helicopter rescue pilot, but it was too expensive.
Would you rather be a tiny elephant or a giant hamster? A tiny elephant! Smart and cute, and I could hide in places and jump out and scare people. Being a giant hamster would be problematic.
What does success look like to you? Feeling like I've accomplished something at the end of the day and that I've conducted myself in ways that are consistent with my true character. Getting through life and still maintaining my true self.

What's the greatest challenge you've had to overcome in your life thus far? I've had to limit myself in some ways due to ongoing health problems. My mother struggled with drug addiction, and I was born with several physical health issues, including a genetic periodontal disease that severely weakened my teeth and gums. As a result, I lost my teeth and haven't been able to afford treatment. Many people assume I'm a drug user, and when I smile, I see their judgment—and it hurts. I've also had kidney problems since childhood. Because of my mom's addiction, I experienced significant trauma growing up and now live with mental health diagnoses that can be challenging at times.
I never really got to connect with my mom until I was an adult. She eventually made amends for the pain she caused, much of which she wasn’t even aware of at the time because of her addiction. It felt like almost too little, too late for her to have a relationship with me, but I wanted my mom. I'm grateful we were able to reconnect before she passed away suddenly two years ago. My dad raised my sister and me as a single father, and I'm incredibly thankful for him.
When I was 24, after having my daughter, I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and had to undergo a full hysterectomy, which meant I couldn't have any more children.
Author's Note: We are so sorry for all the pain and loss you've experienced, Annie. We love you and are proud of who you are! Thank you for trusting us with your story. -The Accurate Building Maintenance Family
If you could go back and give your 13-year-old self some advice, what would it be? Think things through and slow down before you make a decision. Take time to process situations, and you can avoid some issues and pain.
Bonnie’s closing words capture the gratitude and respect our team holds for Annie and the impact she’s made as she steps into her next chapter.
