This month's Employee Spotlight honors one of our longtime crew members, whose 16+ years at our company reflect just a sliver of the strength and resilience behind his journey. “Accurate gave me lightand I kept going. We're all here for a reason.”

Any custodial worker knows they are more than "just" a janitor— and we agree!

At Accurate Building Maintenance, our team members are the backbone of our team and the heartbeat of our purpose: inspiring personal and professional growth while creating clean, healthy, safe communities. They take care of our customers, so we take care of them like family—the best kind! We are so grateful for all they do each day and love to see them grow and succeed.

Our monthly Janitorial Employee Spotlight series features one of our amazing team members, showcasing what it’s like to work in the cleaning industry at Accurate, where we #KeepItFun.

This month, we're honored to spotlight Guillermo "GiGi" Hernandez, a longstanding and deeply valued member of our Accurate team. Since 2008, GiGi has shown up day after day—dependable, respectful, and committed to doing the job right.

He’s not one to seek attention, but his actions and attitude have earned the respect of everyone who has worked with him. His story is one of perseverance, humility, and personal growth, both on the job and in life. After more than 16 years with Accurate, his quiet consistency and strong character continue to leave a lasting impression.

A steady presence with a powerful perspective, Guillermo leads by example through hard work and heart. Keep reading for a little inspiration and a refreshing reminder of what truly matters, in GiGi's own words.

Special thanks and kudos from creator/author Erin Williams (Marketing) to our dedicated Customer Service Manager Dee Perez for her leadership and assistance in carrying out this month's article!

GiGi has been with our team for many years, and his dedication has made a lasting impact. He shows up every day without fail: on time, dependable, and always focused on getting the job done. GiGi doesn’t seek the spotlight and prefers to stay in the background, but his steady presence and commitment are truly valued! You can always count on him to follow through and do his part. In the moments we’ve had more personal conversations, I’ve been struck by how much life he’s lived and how fascinating his story really is. The whole group agrees that he deserves the honor of winning the Employee Spotlight, especially with all the years he has dedicated to the job!” -Alejandra Sanz, Accurate Shift Lead, Las Vegas

The same appreciation extends all the way to the top.

Guillermo has been with us for over 15 years, and in all that time, I don’t think he has ever called in. His dependability, respectfulness, and hard work set an incredible example for all of us. He is always flexible whenever we need to move him to a different account, and no matter where he’s assigned, he stays committed and gives his best. Thank you, Gigi, for your years of dedication! We’re so grateful to have you as part of our team. -Alex Finken, Accurate CEO & Visionary, Las Vegas

Many also point to Gigi's personal character—the humility, consistency, and care that make him so respected.

GiGi is a quiet and down-to-earth individual who always carries a warm smile and shows respectful manners. He is dedicated and hardworking, consistently pushing forward despite the many challenges he has faced. You can count on him to be on time and ready to work every day. He has been with us for 16 years, demonstrating loyalty and persistence that speaks volumes about his character. One of the things I enjoy most is having one-on-one conversations with him. He never fails to bring a smile or share a laugh. GiGi may be quiet, but his presence is deeply valued and appreciated by those who know him.” -Iliana "Lily" Guardado, Accurate Area Manager, Las Vegas

“A big thank you, Guillermo, for your hard work, consistency, and pride in keeping our clients' spaces clean and safe. You lead by example, and we appreciate everything you do! -Brandon Alvarez, Accurate Exterior Services Manager, Las Vegas

WHAT GUILLERMO HAD TO SAY ABOUT THE JANITORIAL INDUSTRY AND WORKING AT ACCURATE

What's your WHY for being a cleaning industry professional? In other words, what brings you to work each day at this job, besides needing to earn a paycheck? I was able to be trained by them. When I was in a really tough spot and couldn’t find work, I was desperate. Accurate gave me an opportunity—that gave me light. And I kept working, serving them. I went through hard times, but the company didn’t shut its doors on me. I couldn’t find work anywhere else.

What's been the biggest challenge you've faced on the job? Making mistakes and then doing it right.

What's something people wouldn't expect that you do in your role? Staying on top of everything I do without anyone telling me every step. Just doing the job well, making sure it's done right, and always moving forward.

What advice would you give new employees? A lot of people get discouraged. It's hard work. But I say, look at what you’re doing and pay attention to how it makes you feel. If it feels good, if you’re proud of your work, keep going. Keep moving forward.

What's your favorite thing about working at Accurate? My coworkers and how our team works together. They're great.

Do you have a nickname at work? Yes: GiGi. Mr. Brad—may he rest in peace—he gave me the nickname, and it stuck.

Author’s Note: Bradley Ruxer was Accurate’s Director of Operations when he passed away in July 2021. Many of us remember him with great respect and emotion, including Guillermo. To read more about Brad and what he means to the Accurate Family, click here.

Which of Accurate's core values is most important to you, and why? (We Keep Our Word, Opportunity, Respect, Keep it Fun, and Solutions) Respect. That's the one that really resonates with what I do.

Which team members inspire you the most at Accurate? I really like and appreciate the team at my current worksite. We work well together. Many of the people I knew when I first started working for Accurate are no longer with the company.

WHAT GUILLERMO SHARED ABOUT HIMSELF

How do you define success at work? Being a good worker and being able to work independently, with autonomy.

Tell us about your family now, and where you grew up. I grew up in Mexico. My dad was killed, and I was left alone. I went from family to family, then to the streets. My family I have now, I love them very much. We’ve been through hard times.

What's the biggest challenge you've had to overcome in life? Living on the street.

Author's Note: We are so sorry for the loss of your father and what you went through, Guillermo. Words can't really convey it, yet we care so very much. Thank you for sharing about yourself with us! -The Accurate Building Maintenance Family

What’s your favorite family tradition? Sitting around the table, sharing a meal, just being together and talking about everything. That includes sharing about all the problems we have. Talk about them, don’t keep it quiet or stuffed down. That’s how we handle things, by sharing.

Being fully present and being with family are two top priorities for Guillermo, shown here celebrating his birthday with those he loves best.

If you could go on vacation, where would you go? I’m not sure where. I’ve actually never been on a plane. I wouldn’t want to get off the plane—just take the ride.

What advice would you give to your 13-year-old self? This makes me think of my grandchildren and wanting to share wisdom with them. Knowing what I know now, what I’ve lived through—good, bad, and in between—I’d say, don’t get involved with drugs. Things have changed compared to the era I was raised in. The world is different now in many ways. But I think no matter what, we still need to pay attention. Because you don’t want your loved ones to go through what you went through.

Guillermo is a proud grandfather who enjoys close relationships with his grandkids.

If you had to give a 20-minute speech off the cuff without writing it down, what would it be about? I’d talk about my life. I’d say we’re all here for a reason. We were all born for a purpose. Let’s take the reins, work hard, move forward, and teach our children, help them.

What's a food you wish had zero calories? Fish salads.

Dee Perez, Accurate's Customer Service Manager of 14+ years, conducted this interview. I love the way she ended her conversation with Guillermo, as it perfectly reflects how all of us at Accurate feel about GiGi!

"Many blessings, Don Guillermo. Thank you so much for the years you’ve given to the company. You’ve never given up—always doing your best and encouraging others." Indeed.

Thank you, GUILLERMO, for being a highly valued team member and an inspiration! We are so glad you’re part of The Accurate Family.
