Any custodial worker knows they are more than "just" a janitor— and we agree!

At Accurate Building Maintenance, our team members are the backbone of our team and the heartbeat of our purpose: creating clean, healthy, safe communities. They take care of our customers, so we take care of them like family—the best kind! We are so grateful for all they do each day and love to see them grow and succeed.

Our monthly Employee Spotlight series features one of our amazing team members, showcasing what it’s like to work in the cleaning industry at Accurate, where we #keepitfun.

Johnny's Original Art, No. 1

Check out the four amazing original art pieces we convinced Johnny to let us share with our readers throughout the article. What a talented artist he is!

Special thanks and kudos from creator/author Erin Williams (Marketing) to Dee Perez (Customer Service Manager) for her assistance in carrying out this month's article!

Dee Perez, Accurate's Queen of Customer Service, nominated Johnny for this month's Employee Spotlight.

"Johnny is always smiling and positive in anything he does. He is trusted and well respected by his team and any employee that works with him. Johnny is devoted to providing top quality customer service and aims to please!" -Dee Perez, Accurate Customer Service Manager, Las Vegas

Johnny's coworkers quickly jumped in to sing his praises. Maria Munoz is the newest crew member at this job site and appreciates his leadership and work style.

"In the time I've interacted with him as both a boss and a person, I've seen that Johnny is an extraordinary person. He leads by example. He's a very detailed worker and super committed to his work! I love how we work as a team. Congratulations, Johnny!" - Maria Munoz, Accurate Crew Member, Las Vegas

Johnny is Accurate's supervisor at a luxury high-rise community, taking care of the property inside and out as well as its residents during his nearly two decades with the company. Our customer's staff members appreciate Johnny for his upbeat mindset, outstanding work ethic, and superior customer service.

"We love Johnny! My favorite thing about him is his positive attitude and willingness to help every day." -Tanya O., General Manager for Accurate Customer, Las Vegas

The community residents are also Johnny fans, quick to share their admiration for his effort and excellence.

"Johnny has been a very loyal and competent member of our residential community's family for many years. He is very professional, conscientious, responsive to requests and accommodating. He seems to take great pride in his work." -Susan G., Community Resident at Accurate's Customer, Las Vegas
Family Man Johnny shared a throwback photo of his kiddos when they were younger.

"Johnny has been with us since 2007, and let me tell you, he's one of a kind. Always sporting a smile and never a frown, he's the heart and soul of the building he works. He's been at the same building for all these years, and our client just loves him—they always say, 'Please don't ever move him!' He's got this knack for keeping things running smoothly, with hardly any turnover in his account. But what really sets Johnny apart is that he's a total family man. I've watched his kids grow up over the years, and it's been amazing to see. He's the kind of guy who brings that warm, family vibe to work every day, and it's something we all really admire. Johnny's more than just an employee; he's a part of our company's family, and we're lucky to have him." - Alex Finken, Accurate CEO/Visionary, Las Vegas

What's your WHY on being a cleaning industry professional? In other words, what brings you to work each day, at this job, besides needing to earn a paycheck? I like it. I like the work; I like the fact that it's detail-oriented. If I see something out of place, I like to take care of it. There's also a sense of achievement in that I know what I'm supposed to do, and as long as I do that, I know I've done my job and done it well.

What aspect of your job do you enjoy the most? I get to work with great people at Accurate. Our customer's staff here are really great, too.

What makes you proud and satisfied about your work? The fact that I come in every day and I always try my best, to do whatever I can with excellence– and that's in the details.

Johnny's contentment with his work and his life in general is evident. We can see why his leadership and attitude are valued and respected by so many.

Which of Accurate’s core values resonates most with you and why? (Keep It Fun, Opportunity, Respect, Solutions, and We Keep Our Word) SOLUTIONS— when we work together as a team, we can deliver on our promises. Teamwork is really important to me, and it's connected to Solutions.

Describe your fellow Accurate team members in three words. Solid, nice, and very hardworking people.

Which team member is your biggest inspiration at Accurate? Dee Perez, Customer Service Manager. She's always working hard and available to help with whatever I need and to answer any questions.

What did you want to do for a career when you were growing up? I wanted to be an artist, drawing and painting canvases. I do it for fun; I draw on sketchbooks and canvases, nothing major or professional. I love art.

What type of movies do you like?

The horror movie genre. Old school ones like “Friday the 13th"– the classics that I rented at Blockbuster on the weekends.

How do you define success? Somebody that never gives up and is always trying no matter what.

What would your dream "retirement gig" be? A tour guide somewhere tropical along the coast or an island, or maybe on a cruise. You could enjoy the water and beach while you're at work.

Johnny's relationship with his two kids is his #1 priority!
What do you like to do when you’re not working? Spend as much time as possible with my kids, to take them out and have fun with them. Prioritize the relationship with them before it all completely changes! That's bound to happen as they age. My son Arturo is 14, and my daughter Ivanna is 11.

What is your greatest accomplishment, or what are you most proud of in your life?

My kids. That feels like a great life accomplishment; that’s a great thing I’ve done in life, raising my kids.

What is one food you wish had zero calories?

Pizza. My favorite is Hawaiian style with pineapple and mushrooms.

Johnny's Original Art, No. 3
What is the most important thing you’ve learned in the last 3 years?  Just to not stress out about things that are beyond your control. I feel like a lot of us, we worry about things that we don’t have a lot of power over, and eventually things resolve on their own– and the worry and stress aren't worth it.

What is your #1 pet peeve?

People who are rude for no reason.

What was the first thing you bought with your own money? My first car at about age 18– a Honda Civic.

What piece of advice would you give to your younger self? I would say, "Keep saving your money! Don't blow through it as easily as it comes."

If you were an animal, what would you be?

A lion, because he’s king of the jungle, "large and in charge." 😉
